I noticed a number of my loyal followers (deep thanks everyone) area from overseas...me living in Australia. My decision to share a photo I took of an Australian Native...the Kookaburra has been received well.
Sometimes I take for granted that I live in an area where I I see such beautiful native species, I feel in the mood for sharing lately and sharing the enjoyment that it brings.
What I'm sharing now is a photo of an infamous native Australian spider - The Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti). Named for obvious reasons this spider has a striking red marking on its back and its extremely toxic venom.
...The specimen shown below was captured in my very own backyard area.
Enjoy at your own risk :)

dude, it is my dream to go to Australia but the thought of all the deadly spiders is always on the back of my mind. I have no fear of spiders but I think a big part of that the fact that I live in a area where a spider bite is barley likely to pierce my skin. a3
ReplyDeleteLooks very creepy!o.ô
ReplyDeleteI would not want to wake up with that thing staring at me...great shot though!!
ReplyDeleteand no. Stupid scary spiders.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy. I actually find it so cool, this blood red spider, it's pretty damn awesome in my opinion at least.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's no Black Widow. Hourglass = kill it with fire or run away.
